Privacy Policy

Overview

LingoLock ("we", "us", or "our") is an iOS application that helps you replace mindless scrolling with short vocabulary lessons. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have. We believe in plain language, so we've avoided legalese wherever possible.

Information We Collect

Information you provide

LingoLock does not require you to create an account. If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and the content of your message.

Usage and analytics data

We use PostHog to collect anonymised analytics about how you use the app — things like which lessons you complete, how often you open the app, and which screens you visit. This data is tied to a random device identifier, not to your name or email address. We use it solely to understand what's working and improve the product.

Subscription and purchase data

If you subscribe to LingoLock Pro, purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store using Apple's StoreKit framework. We verify your subscription status directly via Apple — we never see your card number or billing information.

Screen Time / App usage

LingoLock uses Apple's Screen Time API (Family Controls / ManagedSettings frameworks) to block and unblock apps on your device. This data never leaves your device. The list of apps you choose to block, and any usage statistics derived from Screen Time, are stored locally on your iPhone and processed entirely on-device. We do not have access to this information.

Lesson progress

Your lesson progress, streaks, and vocabulary scores are stored locally on your device using Core Data. This data is not synced to any server we operate.

How We Use Your Information

• To provide and improve the LingoLock app experience
• To verify your subscription status and unlock Pro features
• To understand aggregate usage patterns and prioritise new features
• To respond to support enquiries you send us

We do not sell your personal information to any third party. We do not use your data for advertising.

Third-Party Services

LingoLock uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policy:

• Apple App Store — payment processing, subscription management, and app delivery
• PostHog — product analytics (anonymised)

We choose partners that meet high data-protection standards and do not permit them to use your data for their own marketing purposes.

Data Retention

Analytics events are retained for 12 months before being automatically deleted. Support emails are deleted within 90 days of resolving your issue. Subscription records are retained for as long as required by Apple's developer agreement.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to restrict or object to its processing. To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@lingolock.xyz. We will respond within 30 days.

Because we collect minimal data and most information stays on your device, the easiest way to delete your data is to delete the LingoLock app from your iPhone.

Children's Privacy

LingoLock is suitable for all ages, including children aged 4 and up. We designed the app to be safe for young learners: we do not collect names, email addresses, or any other personal information from children. Analytics data is anonymised and tied only to a random device identifier. All lesson progress and app-blocking settings are stored locally on the device.

If you believe your child has somehow provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@lingolock.xyz and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, through an in-app notice. Your continued use of LingoLock after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
